The internet’s favourite animal goes 3D in a big way.

It was only a matter of time before someone realised the massive appeal of a cat as the subject matter for a giant LED billboard. Surfing the net for cat videos is one of the most popular searches on line. Some people in Japan and Korea have even made a career out of posting videos of their cats and turning them into online celebrities with huge followings.

The cat featured here is huge in its own right. Shown between advertisements, the hyper-realistic feline comes to life on a 1,664-square-foot curved LED screen in the Shinjuku district. The 4K-resolution display shows the cat walking around high above the Japanese capital as it audibly meows.

However probably the most endearing part of the story is how the giant 3D cat came about in the first place. It was a gift from local traders to cheer up the local population during Covid. Bravo traders of Shinjuku. The rest of the world enjoys it too.
